What makes the cornflower from Estonia or the cyclamen from Cyprus special? This time, the answers to these questions were not sought by scientists, but by children who took part in workshops held in March and April at Europe House.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Over the course of two months, young explorers and artists embarked on a creative journey across Europe, discovering the plants that represent different countries and turning them into colourful illustrations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The result of their work is the <strong>\u201cEuropean Herbarium\u201d exhibition<\/strong>, which opened on 5 June at Europe House in Belgrade as part of this year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/green-week.event.europa.eu\/index_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EU Green Week<\/a> &#8211; the traditional annual European Union event dedicated to environmental issues.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-11535\" src=\"https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ACA08306-1-1200x800-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ACA08306-1-1200x800-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ACA08306-1-1200x800-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ACA08306-1-1200x800-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ACA08306-1-1200x800-1-552x368.jpg 552w, https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ACA08306-1-1200x800-1.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">European Herbarium is a collection of children\u2019s illustrations of the national flowers of Serbia and the Member States of the European Union. It was created as the result of creative workshops for children aged 6 to 12, during which participants explored the plant world of Europe, learned about the national flowers of different countries, and expressed their impressions on paper through drawings, collages and illustrations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">In addition to the exhibition, a catalogue of the same name was presented, inspired by botanical books. Alongside each illustration, it features interesting descriptions of the plants, allowing visitors to learn something new about the natural wealth of Serbia and Europe.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-11536\" src=\"https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ACA08287-1-1200x800-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ACA08287-1-1200x800-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ACA08287-1-1200x800-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ACA08287-1-1200x800-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ACA08287-1-1200x800-1-552x368.jpg 552w, https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ACA08287-1-1200x800-1.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The workshops were jointly organised by <strong>Europe House in Belgrade, the \u201cSini\u0161a Stankovi\u0107\u201d Institute for Biological Research and the Children\u2019s Cultural Centre.<\/strong> Through a combination of science, art and play, children learned about biodiversity, the importance of nature conservation and how each of us can contribute to protecting the environment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">At the opening of the exhibition, the Deputy Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia, <strong>Plamena Halacheva,<\/strong> said that through their work, the children had become true ambassadors of biodiversity and had shown how creativity can inspire care for the planet.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-11537\" src=\"https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ACA08348-1-1200x800-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ACA08348-1-1200x800-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ACA08348-1-1200x800-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ACA08348-1-1200x800-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ACA08348-1-1200x800-1-552x368.jpg 552w, https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/ACA08348-1-1200x800-1.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Among the young artists was <strong>Ana Den\u010di\u0107<\/strong>, a fourth-grade pupil at \u201cVasa Pelagi\u0107\u201d Primary School, who illustrated the Cyprus cyclamen together with her classmates.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\"><em>\u201cAt the workshops in Europe House, we worked on many plants and flowers.
