The film TREES<\/em>, which explores the collaboration of European theatre artists in the fight to preserve trees and raise environmental awareness through performing arts, following the processes of creation and implementation of artistic practices in participating countries, had its premiere at the Europe House in Belgrade as part of EU Green Week.<\/p>\n

The international TREES<\/em> project<\/a>, coordinated by DAH Theatre<\/a>, was officially selected as the highest-rated project in the 2023 Creative Europe<\/a> programme of the European Union. The project has been recognized as an outstanding initiative connecting art, ecology, and local communities.<\/p>\n

Following the film premiere, a discussion with the audience took place. On the TREES<\/em> project and its creation and implementation spoke Dijana Milo\u0161evi\u0107 and Jadranka An\u0111eli\u0107 from DAH Theatre, authors of the TREES<\/em> concept and directors of the performance Dancing Trees<\/em><\/a>, Ivana Milenovi\u0107 Popovi\u0107 from DAH Theatre, project manager and actress, and Karolina Spaji\u0107, coordinator of ZID Theatre from Amsterdam, Netherlands, and director of the performance Oxygen<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Guests had the opportunity to view materials from festivals held in Greece, Germany, and Spain as part of a small accompanying exhibition.<\/p>\n

The premiere was also attended by representatives of the Embassy of Greece<\/a>, a partner country in the project involving two organizations from Greece. The discussion was dynamic, with many audience questions related to ecology and the role and contribution of theatre in raising awareness of environmental issues and strengthening awareness within local communities.<\/p>\n

The TREES<\/em> documentary uses materials recorded throughout the duration of the project in participating countries, at festivals, workshops, and conferences. Filming in Serbia was carried out by Dragana Udovi\u010di\u0107 and Goran Srdanov, with post-production by Branislav Krsti\u0107.<\/p>\n

A special focus was placed on learning through practice, dialogue, and the use of art as a tool for social change. TREES<\/em> reminds us that growth, connection, and care for the environment are a shared process \u2013 just like a forest that survives thanks to mutual support.<\/p>\n

United in a shared idea and through a process of research and reflection, the project resulted in seven original site-specific performances, three festivals, dozens of participatory workshops and post-show discussions, as well as several conferences on raising awareness about tree conservation. The first international e-learning course titled \u201cTheatre with Environmental Awareness\u201d was also created, enabling theatre makers across Europe and beyond to explore how performing arts can foster environmental awareness and climate action.<\/p>\n

The TREES<\/em> project<\/a>, supported by the Creative Europe programme, brought together artists and researchers from seven countries: Germany, Greece, Ireland, Norway, Spain, the Netherlands, and Serbia, with the shared goal of raising environmental awareness and engaging citizens in tree protection and the fight against climate change.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
