And young performers are the ones who can help take it there.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"524\" data-end=\"710\">In addition to concerts, the series also creates space for discussions about audiences, culture and its place in society, as well as Serbia\u2019s connection with the European cultural scene.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"712\" data-end=\"920\">The first day of the series opened at Europe House with a panel discussion bringing together representatives of the music sector and cultural policy experts, with a particular focus on the European framework.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"922\" data-end=\"1262\">The discussion, <strong data-start=\"938\" data-end=\"972\">\u201cWhat Is Classical Music For?\u201d<\/strong>, put audiences at the centre of the conversation. Who listens to classical music in Serbia today, and who is it intended for? Is it still perceived as something elitist and inaccessible, and what can be done to make it closer and more accessible to different generations and social groups?<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1264\" data-end=\"1386\">The discussion featured music critic Mirko Jeremi\u0107, as well as Natalija Ivi\u0107 and Katarina \u010colakovi\u0107 of the KaNa Piano Duo.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1388\" data-end=\"1712\">The audience also had an opportunity to hear first-hand about the importance of understanding the contemporary creative landscape and the fact that it encompasses far more than composing and performing. Artists must also take into account a range of other aspects in order to participate fully in contemporary cultural life.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-12387\" src=\"https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Klasika-1-131-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Klasika-1-131-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Klasika-1-131-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Klasika-1-131-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Klasika-1-131-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Klasika-1-131-552x368.jpg 552w, https:\/\/evropskakuca.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Klasika-1-131.jpg 1620w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" data-start=\"1714\" data-end=\"1960\"><strong data-start=\"1714\" data-end=\"1748\">\u201cWhat Is Classical Music For?\u201d<\/strong> opened a critical conversation about the place of classical music in contemporary Serbian society: who makes up its audience, who is missing from it, and where the line lies between accessibility and compromise.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1962\" data-end=\"2130\">The second discussion, <strong data-start=\"1985\" data-end=\"2023\">\u201cAre We in Tune? 442 for Belgrade\u201d<\/strong>, posed a simple question: are we \u201cin tune\u201d as a cultural community and as a society moving towards Europe?<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2132\" data-end=\"2611\">The discussion, moderated by Bojan Milosavljevi\u0107 from the Creative Europe Desk at the Ministry of Culture, Daliborka Nikoli\u0107, Culture and Public Diplomacy Manager at Europe House, and Ana Blagojevi\u0107, a master\u2019s student in cultural policy and management at the University of Arts, focused on understanding EU support, the ways in which young artists in Serbia can make use of these opportunities, and the expectations that need to be aligned at both the local and European levels.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2613\" data-end=\"2809\">The conversation also explored the experiences and challenges faced by young artists and cultural professionals, as well as opportunities for stronger connections with the European cultural scene.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2811\" data-end=\"2902\">Both discussions were moderated by Filip Babi\u0107, a classical guitarist and cultural manager.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2904\" data-end=\"3085\"><em data-start=\"2904\" data-end=\"3085\">Classics Now! is a concert series taking place from 18 to 20 August at the Czech House in Belgrade and Europe House, dedicated to young performers of contemporary classical music.<\/em><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3087\" data-end=\"3330\"><em data-start=\"3087\" data-end=\"3330\">Over three days, audiences will have the opportunity to attend four concerts and two public panel discussions addressing the place of classical music in contemporary society, its audiences and the role of young artists in shaping its future.<\/em><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3332\" data-end=\"3370\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><em data-start=\"3332\" data-end=\"3370\" data-is-last-node=\"\">Admission to all programmes is free.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Through new ideas, contemporary approaches and connections with different artistic forms, young people are helping to keep classical music alive, accessible and relevant to new generations.
