Be never closer to a particle - the basic matter from which everything we know is made. From Friday, November 29 (7 p.m.), take a peek at the model of Large Hadron Collider, brought to Belgrade by representatives of CERN, the largest European organization for nuclear research.
The exhibition "CERN - Universe of Discovery", dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the establishment of that organisation, will be open every day until December 20 at 7 pm in the Europe House.
Come and discover the secrets of the origin of the universe through the history of the establishment and operation of CERN, the most famous European laboratory for particle physics. The world's first website was created in Geneva (info.cern.ch ), precisely in the premises of CERN as a way for all scientists of the world to collaborate quickly and easily. This is how the internet as we know it today was born. In the same laboratories, some of the most important medical experiments were carried out, which significantly extended human life.
A special place in the exhibition is reserved for a part of the largest particle accelerator in the world, which comes directly from CERN, so that you can get a real impression of this incredible scientific, technological and engineering endeavour.
During the duration of the exhibition, accompanying programs will be organised for all those interested, especially for pupils, students, scientists and science lovers.
Every Saturday at 11 a.m., there will be a Science Show, during which scientists will demonstrate the basic principles studied at CERN through various experiments. The show is open to anyone interested, with the necessary registration HERE.
Professional guidance through the exhibition is scheduled every working day from 5 p.m., and registration is not required.
For primary and secondary school students, we will organise popular science workshops on the mysteries of the universe and the basic laws of physics, as well as to learn details about the research carried out at CERN. More information about the workshops HERE.
The scientific spectacle for all generations is organised by the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation in cooperation with CERNThe Center for the Promotion of Science, the Faculty of Physics of the University of Belgrade, the Institute of Physics of the University of Belgrade, with the support of the Europe House.
CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, is one of the most important and respected scientific research centers in the world. Founded on September 29, 1954, this laboratory is located on the border between France and Switzerland, near Geneva. CERN is engaged in fundamental research in the field of elementary particle physics and is considered one of the largest scientific laboratories in the world. In its premises, CERN has the most advanced scientific measuring instruments and other devices needed for research, the most important of which are accelerators and particle detectors.
