On Wednesdays - find out more about literature with us!
The literary programme of Europe House, Books in Focus centres on the most representative and intriguing literary events and phenomena in contemporary European culture. The primary goal of the programme is to showcase the richness and diversity of European literature, spanning from today's literary stars, through young and innovative writers, to radical artistic practices that question the boundaries of human freedoms within the highly complex socio-cultural and political and economic European context.
At the same time, Books in Focus programme highlights the uniqueness and specific dynamics of national literary traditions that collectively shape the European literary landscape, while also marking various anniversaries and milestones. In doing so, it cultivates a vibrant and productive awareness of the diversity of European literary heritage.
Also, Books in Focus programme prioritises live discussions, emphasising the importance of dialogue and the free exchange of ideas. In an increasingly cacophonous world dominated by new technologies, it seeks to renew the significance of open, public spaces – the most reliable foundation of any democratic community – where participants genuinely listen to and respect one another.
All discussions will be moderated by writer and critic Marjan Čakarević.
