You are invited to an evening of French animated film on April 17, 2026, starting at 6:00 PM at the Europe House Niš (5 Vožda Karađorđa Street). “Ernest and Celestine: A Trip to Gibberitia” is directed by Julien Chheng and Jean-Christophe Roger.

Ernest and Celestine return to Ernest’s homeland, Gibberitia, to repair his precious broken violin. There, they discover that music has been banned across the country for several years. For the two heroes, life without music is unimaginable. Joined by new friends—including a mysterious masked avenger—Ernest and Celestine set out to right this injustice and restore joy to the land of bears.
The film is based on the children’s book series of the same name by Belgian author and illustrator Gabrielle Vincent. In 2023, it was nominated for an Annie Award for Best Animated Feature in the independent film category.
The film is in French with Serbian subtitles, and has a runtime of 81 minutes.
The French Animation Film Review is organized in partnership with the French Institute in Serbia. As part of the program, eight animated films by French authors will be screened.
